Specific Job Details Provided Below

EMPLOYMENT  OVERVIEW:

The Fraternal Order Of The eagles 727, Kersey Pennsylvania, along with all Eagle Fraternities, is an equal opportunity employer.  We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, religion, financial status, or political status.  All submitted applications are reviewed and considered for employment on a fair and equal basis.  All applications are held on file for one year and are then discarded.  If you would like to continue to be considered for any future position openings, please notify us periodically so we can move your application to the top of the pile. Because the Kersey Eagles serves alcohol, all employees must be at least eighteen years of age due to Pennsylvania State Law.  All employees must be dependable, reliable, and honest as they are responsible for upholding the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Laws, Liquor License Laws, Small Games Of Chance Laws, Health and Safety Board Laws, Fraternal Order of The Eagles policies, and for the accountability of all money.  Although there is no specific dress code, employees must be dressed tastefully in clean clothes and clean appearances with shoes that cover toes and hair that is up while preparing and serving food.  Crop tops, sandals, and high heels are not permitted and shorts and shirt collars of a tasteful length are allowed.  In other words - if you wouldn't wear it in front of your grandparents, don't wear it to work.  Hair must be clean and brushed as well as nails and teeth.  You are serving the public food and drink.  The club reserves the right to administer a background check, criminal background check, and drug test before hiring and during training, trial, and probation periods, as well as any time during employment if the need arises.  Although not all results of these tests will not necessarily immediately disqualify any applicant from employment, certain results will.  All employees must be knowledgeable in serving alcohol and food as well as any laws and regulations associated with doing so.  All employees are responsible for knowing and upholding any and all Kersey Eagle club rules, regulations, and policies as well as the District Grand Aeries of The Eagles and the Head Grand Aeries of The Eagles rules, regulations, and policies.  This is a small establishment and only employs between three and five bartenders at a time, so it is important to be able to work as a team, respect your co-workers and officers, and get along with them.  There is a certain procedure for making the club run smoothly and correctly and that depends on everyone being on board with each other and helping out when needed.  Donated time may also be needed as we are a non profit organization and run activities, events, and functions at no profit to us but in the interest of the community.  All employees are required to understand this and adhere to it when necessary.  All bartenders are required to attend a monthly bartenders meeting to discuss changes, issues, policies, and to bring forth any ideas, suggestions, or problems. After a significant amount of applications have been submitted, or by the time the position needs filled, the trustees, Bar Manager, and Head Bartender will review all submitted applications, old applications, and applications requested to be renewed.  An interview with the Club Trustees will be scheduled, usually on a Sunday.  An interview with the Bar Manager and Head Bartender will then be scheduled which will most likely be on the same day following the interview with the trustees.  Applicants may be hired on the spot or may have to wait for other interviews to be completed.  If hired, you will be notified and given a training schedule, a packet of information, tax forms, policy forms, and Liquor Control Board forms to fill out.  All forms must be filled out and submitted by the third day of training.  The club is willing to work with the new hired employee on their available start date and available training schedule, however at least two open shifts and three closing shifts (with at least one weekend closing shift) worked within a time span not to exceed three weeks.  The training period usually lasts between two and three weeks at two to three shifts a week.  A trial period of thirty to ninety days will follow based on job position and job performance.  The first two weeks on your own you will be scheduled for more shifts than normal.  A probation period of thirty to ninety days follows the trial period, also based on job position and job performance.  Employment may be terminated at any time by either party during the training, trial, and probation period with or  without prejudice based on reasons.  Termination at any other point of employment will not necessarily prevent you from future employment at the Kersey Eagles or any other Eagles Fraternity based on reason.  Dependability and reliability of working your scheduled shift is a must.  The bartending schedule is posted around ten days before the new month and will run for the entire month.  Three weeks is given to request any time off for the upcoming month, and time requested off is usually granted unless impossible to work around.  Once the schedule is posted, the shifts you are scheduled for become your responsibility.  Arriving a half hour before your shift and exiting the building a half hour after all customers is also required.   Starting wage will be minimum wage and may be increased after your probation period based on experience, dependability, reliability, work ethic, and job performance.  Raises may incur every year after and may occur with the change of Club Officers.  Retirement benefits, investment incentives, life insurance, medical benefits, retirement benefits, and paid vacation and holidays are not offered.  Since the Kersey Eagles is a non-profit organization club, the business is ran by elected volunteer officers.  These elections occur every year in May and new officers take over in June.  With the change of Club Officers, employment positions, employees, and pay rates are subject to change.  Club rules, policies, procedures, and operating hours are also subject to change with the change of Club Officers.  The Club Trustees run the bar and bartenders, the Club President oversees all officers and other employees, the Club Vice President fills in and assists the president, the Club Secretary is responsible for all payroll and finances, and the Club Treasurer assists, fills in, and covers the secretary.  Every bartender has an immediate supervisor- the Head Bartender and then the Bar Manager.  Ultimately, the Club Trustees are the bosses of the bartenders.  At the Kersey Eagles, we follow a chain of command. Scheduling is based on seniority and is family based for holidays and weekends.  Although paid vacations are not offered, every employee who has ended their probation period has certain requirements and offers for vacation and / or personal non-paid time off.  The club is open during afternoon, evening, and overnight hours, weekends, and holidays.  You will be required to work some of these shifts equally unless unavailable for a legitimate reason other than you just don't want to or you'd rather go out.  Every bartender will receive a weekend off and will be scheduled to work at least one entire weekend a month, unless otherwise agreed upon.  The club closes early on Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving Day; opens earlier on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Years Day; opens later on Easter Sunday and New Years Day (if on a Sunday); and is closed on Christmas Day.  There is no set schedule and all employees are required to be able to work both open and close shifts as well as helping out during entertainment, functions, activities, parties, and every employee is required to work New Years Day unless otherwise agreed upon.  Specific shift duties and job position duties will be provided upon hiring and during an interview.  Some functions and events may require employees to donate their time and hours, as well as donate items like food or supplies, to help offset costs since we are a non-profit organization.  Customers also help in this area. Experience in working with the public, serving alcohol and food, working a cash register, and working independently is helpful but not required.  We offer training to anyone and encourage all who ever thought of being a bartender to apply with us, even if it is your first time working in this field, and to let us train you and get you started as a bartender!  After your probation period is in, we may even offer certifications such as ramp, small games of chance, and health and food safety.  As a club, our patrons are paid members and we value their presence, thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.  As an employee in our cub, you must be willing to be patient and conversational with every member.  We are a small club, so this is not a hard task.  It is also helpful for you if you can remember details about them, their life, and their family to discuss when they come back in on your next shift.  The club does not pay a large wage, so tips are very helpful.  Knowing your customers, getting along with them, being sociable and fun, and providing a fun and laid back atmosphere will help increase your tips and keep your customers coming back. Being a member of the Kersey Eagles, or any other Eagle Fraternity, will not eliminate you or give you an edge on employment.  Even if you are not a member of our club, all employees and officers are required to adhere to all club policies, rules, and regulations as well at all times.  Legal procedures such as parole, probation, or IPP will also not immediately disqualify you from employment.

The employee must be considerate to club members, patrons, employees, and officers during working hours and must adhere to all Pennsylvania Liquor Control Laws, Health and Safety Laws, Pennsylvania State ordinances and laws, Fox Township ordinances and laws, club policies, regulations, and rules whether a member or not.  It is not required to be a member of the Kersey Eagles or any other Eagles Fraternity to be considered for employment and the decision will not be based on any membership.  However, if an applicant who is not a member is selected for the position, an agreement for the club to sponsor their membership may be made.

Some examples of work needed to be done, or possible work to be done, include but are not limited to: wiring of outdoor lights, repair / replace an outdoor lighted sign, repair or replace plumbing to bar and kitchen sink, build a fire escape from the second floor, yard maintenance, on call emergency repairs such as a non working toilet or cooler, repair to an ice machine, and possible snow removal and salt / ash placement.  If at any time the employee needs to sub contract to another individual this decision lies solely on the employee and they are responsible for the work contract between them and the sub contracted individual as well as the pay rate and hours.  The club is not responsible for any employee other than the applicant hired.  The Kersey Eagles makes completely legitimate payments and payroll to every employee and records all payments, hours worked, and jobs hired for.  Each job will require a new payment agreement and will be discussed amongst the club officers and employee.

Once a significant amount of applications is submitted and reviewed, you may be called in for an interview with the club officers.  These officers could include the President, Vice President, Trustees, Secretary, Treasurer, and Bar Manager.  A second interview may be scheduled if further information or references are needed or if not all officers who want to be there are the.  After all interviews are completed, each applicant will receive a call with a decision.  If any applicant is not selected for the job, the club hopes this will not discourage anyone from future applications on jobs.  The applicant selected will then be scheduled for a job overview on the work needed, job requirements, regulations, expectations from the club to the employee, expectations from the employee to the club, pay rate, pay schedule, and work schedule.  Paperwork will be required to be filled out before starting on any work.  If the employee does not approve to complete a job, the club reserves the right to hire another maintenance man to either replace the employee or to do the work he / she wishes not to do.  In the event the club officers become weary of any sub contracted individual on the employee's behalf, the club has the right to voice their concerns to which the employee and the club officers will come to an agreement pertaining to any subcontracted individual from the employee.  Any subcontracted individual is required to follow the same rules, regulations, laws, and procedures as the employee.  It is the responsibility of the employee to make sure the subcontracted individual knows the rules, regulations, policies, and laws, and follows them.

The Kersey Eagles reserves the right to administer a background check, criminal background check, and drug test prior to hiring any applicant.  The results of these tests will not necessarily eliminate any applicant from employment consideration.  During the course of employment, the club reserves the right to administer a drug test if needed.  The results of the test will not necessarily terminate the employment agreement between the employee and the club, but if termination is the result due to the test, the employee forfeits all rights to any and all unfinished jobs and the payments owed to them for the job.

As a reminder, the Kersey Eagles, as well as any other Eagles Fraternity, is an equal opportunity employee.

For this part time bartender position, the club is specifically seeking someone who is more inclined to work close shifts, weekends, and holidays.  Maybe this person has a full time job and is just looking to earn some extra money or could be looking for a few extra hours out of their home or an escape from family life.  This position is also ideal for young, ambitious people looking to begin a bartending experience, or for an individual looking to devote more hours and time to the club but needs a starting point.  Experience is helpful, but not necessary.  All training is provided, paid for, and we are willing to be patient to teach anyone all they need to know to be an incredible employee.

Since all employees are responsible for all money and club property in the club on their shift, any significant shortages or missing property may be made to be paid back by the employee.  Any consistency of money being short or club / member property going missing can result in immediate termination, can prevent future employment with the Kersey Eagles and any other Eagles Fraternity, and is subject to legal action.  This includes money, food, alcohol, membership, and any other property, or the destruction of any property, of the Kersey Eagles, it's officers, employees, and any club member.

Once a significant amount of applications have been received, you may be scheduled for an interview with the Club Trustees.   They run the social area and the bar and are considered the employee's bosses.   Currently the club has three trustees.  An interview with the Bar Manager and the Head Bartender will be scheduled to follow.  A decision will be made after all interviews have been completed.  If selected, you will be given the chance to work with the scheduling of your training period to fit your other obligations.  The club will also offer you a grace period of two weeks to give notice to any other employer if needed.

As a reminder, the Kersey Eagles, as well as any other Eagles Fraternity, is an equal opportunity employee.
